‘Elephants with Guns’ collects music, sounds and noises from different parts of the world, wraps them in twine, and present them to you. Each member’s unique cultural and musical background leads to songs that fuse a mixture of different musical styles and genres.

Lead vocalist/flautist Maya Taylor, an East-Coast wanderer who ended up in California, is a classically trained jazz musician who has studied music all over the place.

Guitarist Jayson Joseph, who lived in India and Dubai before moving to America, plays rock and spanish riffs influenced by the Indian and Arab music he grew up listening to.

Bassist Sagar Chandrashekar, an American-born Indian, infuses the band’s music with his love of hip-hop and reggae.

Percussionist Omar Kazmi, born in Pakistan and inspired by Sufi and Kawali music, brings the band beats from all over the Arab and South Asian world.

Now these 4 musicians who started off from different parts of the world have found each other in Los Angeles, CA, and found a shared passion to create music that aims to entertain and enlighten. They are currently in the studios of Rukus Avenue Records recording their debut album.
